This month we talk to Rosie Haslem, Director of Workplace Consultancy at Spacelab  – a work space design consultancy with a difference. “We believe good design starts with people, so we make buildings that fit people, instead of trying to fit people into buildings,” says Haslem. Here are some of Rosie’s thoughts on design and fitout.

I would paint the town in white! Light, bright and a blank canvas for creative thinking.

The office fitout of my dreams features lots of natural light, and a variety of spaces so that people can work in an environment suited to whatever it is they need to do.

Desk lamps are sometimes a necessary addition for individual or localised tasks, but should never replace maximised daylighting or well considered lighting design in office fitouts.

When I am at work I listen to all of my colleagues’ playlists – we all share music over airplay!

Office fitouts in London are increasingly influenced by flexible and co-working trends and are being designed to accommodate the changing multiple, needs of the people working in them.
